Me: Nairobi, Kenya

Him: Nairobi, Kenya

Distance: 0km

And then there are the days where we are in the same place at the same time. Days to recharge, to reconnect, and to refuel for the next bout of travel. This weekend we have watched the rain, making soups and stews and shepherd's pie. When we have tired of watching the rain, we have connected our laptop to the projector and watched British comedy news shows.

We have listened to the river out the back of our house steadily filling, and the steady torrent on the decking umbrella outside. We have listened to Radio 4's Now show. We have listened to Spotify's 90s playlists and relived our teens.

We have drunk G&Ts on a friend's porch and watched the rain on the other side of the town. This evening we will welcome an old friend from Tanzania days and talk about memories from when it rained in Tanzania.

Weekends like this used to be hard for someone who always wants to be doing something. Now they are a blessed relief. A chance to catch up on sleep and remember what and who matters. And maybe there will be sunshine tomorrow.
